Evelyn Marie (Westberry) Gass born on November 1, 1945 passed away peacefully at her home on April 20, 2024 after a long struggle with dementia at the age of 78 years old. She was a native of Tampa, FL. She is proceeded in death by her parents Lawson and Gertrude Westberry, and siblings Bill and Irene. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Malcolm Gass and their three boys Malcolm Gass Jr (Leslie), Michael Gass (Jenna) and Matthew Gass (Aimee) along with seven grandchildren (Alexandrea, Joseph, Anna, Gavin, Gage, Tyler & Jordyn), and 2 great-grandaughters Carsyn & Chandler along with her brother Larry Westberry (Carol) and sister Ellen Potts.
Evelyn worked as the head cook at the CDC on Fort Knox for 26 years until she retired in 2015. She and her husband were avid active members of the VFW Post 10281 in Vine Grove, KY for many many years.
Evelyn was well known for making beautiful cakes for special occasions, numerous hours of volunteer work at the VFW and could sew and/or knit just about anything she put her mind to. She loved spending time with family and friends and always had a funny story to tell. She will be truly missed by all that loved her so dearly.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, April 29, 2024 and from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gass will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY with Brother Ben Underhill officiating. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
